Samsung Galaxy S9: All The Rumored Features and Facts at One Place

Samsung Galaxy S9 is just around the corner and the market for rumors has already started building the hype.

There is no denying the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still one of the best-looking smartphones. As a matter of fact, the S8 kind of set the benchmark for all the smartphones in 2017.

Samsung, therefore, is not trying to let that thing go with the Galaxy S9 too and the design of the upcoming flagship will also, more or less, be the same.

In this post, we would have a look at all the changes which are going to be introduced to the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Samsung Galaxy S9: Everything you need to know

The Galaxy S9 will look a lot like the Galaxy S8

As said, the design language of the S9 will be unchanged. One can expect similar curves, a metal frame with a glass enveloping both sides of the smartphone.

After having a look at a CAD render teased recently, one can expect the bezels of the Galaxy S9 to be narrower as compared to the Galaxy S8.

The best part of the render is the fact that the fingerprint scanner has finally been shifted to a much better position. The awkwardly placed fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S8 was one of the very few drawbacks in the device and Samsung has succeeded in overcoming that. Good job mates!

On top of that, the screen to body ratio is also said to be increasing by up to 90 percent meaning the screen real estate will be all the way more.

Iris scan is going head-to-head with the FaceID

Iris scanning was introduced by Samsung way before Apple introduced its Face ID, but, truth be told, the Face ID is far more superior when it comes to real life usage.

Knowing the fact that face unlock feature is gaining heat as of late, Samsung is keen to improve the Iris scanning feature for the Galaxy S9.

A report from Korea Herald solidifies this fact as well.

The iris camera lens will be improved to 3 megapixels from 2 megapixels of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 to capture clearer images. The scanner will better recognize users’ irises even when they wear eyeglasses, move their eyeballs or are in a too dark or too light environment

This would allow for a faster scanning and an improved accuracy as well.

OnePlus has decided to push the Face Unlock feature of the OnePlus 5T to the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 3/3T as well.

The Galaxy S9+ will feature dual cameras

This, sadly, also means that the Galaxy S9 is probably going to pack in a single camera only. This is probably the first time Samsung has distinguished its Galaxy lineup variants in terms of cameras. That, however, does not mean that the camera in the Galaxy S9 is not going to be good, but one would certainly expect the in-trend dual camera setup in a device of such a magnitude.

Other than the difference in the camera, the Galaxy S9+ is also going to have additional 2 gigs of RAM which makes it 6GB for the Plus version of the Galaxy S9 as compared to the more modest 4GB in the base version.

Luckily, the fingerprint sensor will be placed at the bottom of the camera lens no matter which variant you go for.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is to stay

One trend which is being followed constantly in 2017 is the fact that the top smartphone manufacturers are ready to let go of the 3.5mm headphone jack which is, somehow, a matter of concern for a lot of potential buyers.

You, however, do not have to worry about this as far as the Galaxy S9 is concerned.

The CAD renders shown in the post as well as a leaked image of a phone case for the S9 solidify this statement.

The Galaxy S9 will have a bigger, better battery and a massive storage

note 8 storage

If a post from Sammobile is to be believed, the Galaxy S9 is going to pack in a 3,200 mAh battery which is slightly bigger than the 3,000 mAh unit found on the Samsung Galaxy S8.

There would obviously be a support for Quick Charge 3.0 with this device as well.

On the storage front, the Galaxy S9 is rumored to pack in a massive 512GB of internal memory. This can very well be a reality owing to the fact that Samsung has recently announced that it has begun mass-producing the first-ever 512GB chips for the mobile industry.

What could be a better occasion to reveal the chips than to launch it with a flagship like the S9, right?
